Summit Medical Academy LLC

Privacy policy

Effective date: October 20, 2026

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

Summit Medical Academy LLC is an Idaho limited liability company (“Summit Medical Academy,” “SMA,” “we,” “us”).

This policy explains what personal information we collect through summitmedicalacademy.com and our online class registration pages (together, the “Site”). It also explains how we use that information, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

This policy does not cover records created during your program, such as clinical, background check and course records.

SMA is under common ownership with Idaho Medical Academy, which runs its own website under its own privacy policy. Some Idaho Medical Academy pages link here so you can register for SMA courses, such as our classes in Montana. When you register on this Site, this policy applies, even if you arrived from Idaho Medical Academy’s website.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you register for a course, pay online, or contact us through the Site, we collect:

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number and mailing address.
  • Registration details: the course and class date you select, and your date of birth.
  • Social Security number: collected only for programs where a state agency or certifying organization requires it to record your enrollment or credential, and used only for that purpose.
  • Parent or guardian information: for students under 18, the name, contact details and consent of a parent or guardian.
  • Payment information: payments are handled by our payment processors, which collect your card or bank details directly. We don’t store full card numbers. If you choose a payment plan, we keep a record of your balance and payment schedule.
  • Messages: what you send us through the Site’s forms.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we and our analytics and advertising providers automatically collect:

  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and actions such as clicking a registration button.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: described in section 4.
  • Ad click information: if you arrive by clicking one of our online ads, the click identifier the ad platform attaches to that visit. If you then register, we store it with your registration so we can tell which ads lead to enrollments.

3. How we use it

We use personal information collected through the Site to:

  • register you for your course and set up your course access;
  • process payments and manage payment plans;
  • report enrollment and completion to state agencies and certifying organizations, and keep the records we are required to keep;
  • contact you about your course, schedule changes and requirements;
  • tell you about other courses, unless you ask us not to;
  • understand how the Site is used, and improve it;
  • advertise our courses and measure how well our advertising works, as described in section 4;
  • protect the security of the Site, prevent fraud, and comply with the law.

4. Analytics, advertising and cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use three kinds:

TypeWhat it doesSet by
EssentialMakes registration, checkout and payment work, and helps prevent fraudSMA and our payment processors
AnalyticsShows us how visitors use the SiteGoogle Analytics, Microsoft Clarity
AdvertisingLets our advertising partners show our ads to people who have visited the Site, and tells us whether an ad led to a registrationAdvertising partners, such as Google

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and which actions they take. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes this information under Google’s terms. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Session analytics. We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our pages, such as where they click and how far they scroll, so we can improve the Site. Clarity uses cookies and may record how you interact with a page. We set it to hide what you type into forms, and we don’t run it on our registration checkout pages. Microsoft processes this information under its privacy statement at privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.

Remarketing. We may work with advertising partners, such as Google, to show ads for our courses to people who have visited the Site. These third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show you ads based on your past visits to this Site and other websites. That means they can collect information about your activity across websites over time.

Ad measurement. When you register, we may send our advertising partners a hashed version of your contact details, such as your email address and phone number. Hashing turns them into a coded string that can’t be read back. They use it to tell us whether one of our ads led to your registration. We don’t send this for students under 18.

Customer lists. We may share hashed contact details of current and former students with advertising partners so that we don’t show ads for a course to students already enrolled in it, and so former students may see ads for other courses we offer. We send only name, email, phone and ZIP code, and we exclude anyone under 18.

Embedded content. Some pages include videos from YouTube or maps from Google Maps. Those services may set their own cookies when the content loads.

Do Not Track. The Site does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals. You can still use the choices in section 6.

5. How we share it

We do not sell your personal information. We share information collected through the Site only as described here.

  • Idaho Medical Academy: SMA and Idaho Medical Academy are under common ownership and currently share administrative staff and some course systems, such as the online learning portal. Staff who help with your enrollment may work for either school, and they use your information only to provide your course.
  • Service providers that run parts of our operation for us: website hosting, registration and online course platforms, payment processing, email, analytics and advertising. They receive what they need to provide their service to us.
  • State agencies and certifying organizations, such as state EMS offices, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, the American Heart Association and NAEMT. We share what they need to record your enrollment, administer exams, and issue your credential or license.
  • Advertising partners: hashed contact details, as described in section 4.
  • Legal and safety: when the law requires it, such as a subpoena or court order, or when needed to protect the safety of students, staff or others.
  • Business transfers: if Summit Medical Academy LLC or substantially all of its assets are sold or merged, personal information would transfer to the new owner, and this policy would continue to apply to it.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or contact us. You’ll still receive messages about a course you’re enrolled in.
  • Personalized ads: turn off personalized ads from Google at myadcenter.google.com, and opt out of many other advertising companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you opt out, you’ll still see ads, but they won’t be based on your visits to our Site.
  • Customer lists: email info@SMAeducation.org to be removed from the customer lists we share with advertising partners.
  • Access, correction and deletion: you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We’ll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. Some records, such as enrollment records, financial records, and information we’ve reported to regulators, must be kept by law, so we can’t delete them. We’ll tell you when that applies.

To make any request, contact us using the details in section 12. We don’t charge for requests, and we won’t treat you differently for making one.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires:

  • Registration and enrollment records are kept as required by the state agencies and certifying organizations that oversee our programs.
  • Financial and payment records are kept as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Social Security numbers are kept only as long as needed for required reporting.
  • Analytics and advertising data is kept according to our analytics and advertising platform settings, and in our own analytics records for as long as we need it to measure our advertising.

8. How we protect it

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. Access to sensitive information is limited to staff who need it for their job. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee that information will never be accessed without authorization. If a breach affects your personal information, we’ll notify you as the law requires.

9. Minors

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. If we learn that we have, we’ll delete it.

Some of our programs accept students aged 16 and 17 with a parent or guardian’s consent. We do not use the personal information of anyone we know to be under 18 for targeted advertising or ad measurement, and we exclude them from the customer lists we share with advertising partners.

10. Other websites

The Site links to other websites, such as Idaho Medical Academy, NREMT, state licensing agencies and our payment processors. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy doesn’t cover them.

11. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we’ll also post a notice on the Site before the change takes effect.
